VALE - Detective Senior Sergeant Vic Kostiuk

VALE - Detective Senior Sergeant Vic Kostiuk

On behalf of the Board, our membership, staff and everyone connected to Victoria Police Legacy, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Kostiuk family following yesterday’s unexpected death of Detective Senior Sergeant Vic Kostiuk while taking part in the annual Wall to Wall Ride.

Vic, Pauline and their family were familiar faces at this event, and we are extremely saddened that tragically he lost his life during a police event that raises funds for Victoria Police Legacy. For those who are involved in the Wall to Wall, it is one of those special weekends that brings out the best in police fellowship. Befittingly, that quality is one that describes Vic, a highly respected police officer who always had the time for others.

His death will no doubt have an impact on many people for different reasons, and we acknowledge everyone within the Victoria Police Legacy family who has experienced the awful circumstances of losing a loved one. We also pay our respects to the members who attended the scene and did their job, as they always do, with professionalism and the utmost consideration for the family.

Victoria Police Legacy looks after the needs of police families, providing support to people in ways that reflect the complex and long-term impacts of grief. All deaths are equally tragic and change the lives of those left behind. Our goal is to help with those changes and to ensure the connection and engagement with Victoria Police is never forgotten.

One of our roles includes facilitating direct fundraising support to individuals and families, where appropriate. Should this service be required, members can contact VPL directly on 9663 4280 or alternatively reach out to Board members and Ambassadors for advice.
